Strepfen Spray is used for short-term relief of symptoms accompanying sore throat such as scratchy throat, pain, difficulty swallowing and swelling for adults 18 years and older. A clear, colourless to pale yellow solution with a cherry and peppermint flavour.
Dosage and method of use
Dosing:
Adults over 18 years of age, spray one dose (3 sprays) into the back of the throat as needed every 3-6 hours, up to a maximum of 5 doses in 24 hours. One dose of 3 squirts contains 8.75 flurbiprofen.
Use:
The active substance is flurbiprofen. Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs work by changing the way the body reacts to pain, swelling and high temperature. This medicine is not intended for children and adolescents under the age of 18. For oral administration only. Spray only to the back of the throat. Do not inhale when applying the spray. Do not use more than 5 doses (15 sprays) in 24 hours.
Contraindications
Do not use Strepfen Spray 8.75 mg if you are allergic to flurbiprofen, other NSAIDs (medicines for pain, fever and inflammation), acetylsalicylic acid or any other ingredient; if you have ever had an allergic reaction, e.g. as asthma, whistling while breathing, itching, runny nose, skin rash, swelling, after taking a drug like NSAIDs or acetylsalicylic acid; if you have, or have ever had, ulcers or bleeding in your stomach or intestines; if you have, or have ever had, severe inflammation in your intestines; if you have or have ever had problems with blood clotting or bleeding after taking NSAIDs; if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy; if you have severe heart, kidney or liver failure.
Notice
Strepfen Spray is intended for short-term use only, you should use as few doses as you need for as short a time as necessary to relieve your symptoms. If irritation occurs in the oral cavity, discontinue treatment with flurbiprofen. Do not use Strepfen Spray for more than 3 days unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If your condition does not improve or worsens, or if new symptoms appear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
