25th Century Games Wine Cellar

25th Century Games Wine Cellar
Become a sommelier in the game Wine Cellar
Wine Cellar is a fast-paced card game for 1 to 8 players where you become wine collectors and connoisseurs, assembling the most valuable collection of bottles. You and your rival sommeliers have decided to compete to see who is the best. In each game, you build a collection according to the requirements of specific clients, who have different preferences for the composition of the wines. Wine Cellar combines simple rules with thoughtful decision-making, where timing, predicting opponents' moves, and long-term collection planning all matter. Each game forces you to work with a different combination of offers and client demands. The game also works well with any number of players, so it remains interesting even after repeated plays. The game was designed by Andrew Stiles and illustrated by Vincent Dutrait.

The auction process
In the Wine Cellar card game, you acquire wines for your collection through an auction. Players secretly choose a wine card from their hand, and the player with the highest value gets to pick from the offer first. A higher card means a better choice, but it also weakens you for subsequent rounds. Sometimes it's advantageous to play a high value, other times it's better to save it. What's more, the wine card you send to auction will appear in the offer next time and could end up in your collection or someone else's.
Building your cellar
You must place each auctioned bottle at the beginning or end of your row in the cellar. The order of the wines matters, so it pays to plan several moves ahead. During scoring, the type of wine, its country of origin, and how the bottles are arranged in the collection all matter. The Wine Cellar game consists of eight rounds. The player with the most valuable and best-arranged wine collection according to their clients' requirements at the end wins.
