Azul is a successful and popular abstract board game inspired by the aesthetics of Moorish decorative ceramic azulejos. King Manuel I of Portugal was so enchanted by the Spanish Alhambra's mosaic-decorated interiors on his visit that he decided his own palace must have similar decorations. In this game, players take on the role of artists who design interior paneling, creating designs for mosaic decorations on the walls of the royal palace in Evora, Portugal. The goal is to become the player with the most successful mosaic, and therefore with the most points at the end of the game. The player boards are double-sided and allow you to play two variations of the game for more variation. The Azul board game is easy to play and suitable for the whole family, and can be played by players as young as 8 years old. It is designed for 2-4 players and one game will take you 30-45 minutes.
