History of La Real and the Battle of Lepanto
LA REAL was the flagship of the Holy League fleet at the Battle of Lepanto, which took place on 7 October 1571. The Battle of Lepanto was the last and largest naval battle of the Renaissance in which galleys played a major role. Opposing each other were the fleet of the Christian Holy League, made up of the ships of the Papal State, the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Venice, and the fleet of the Turkish Sultan. About 200 galleys and other escort ships fought on both sides. The fleet of the Christian fleet was commanded from the ship LA REAL by Don Juan d'Austria, the fleet of the Turkish fleet from the ship SULTANA by Ali Pasha. The highlight of the battle was the duel between the two flagships - LA REAL and SULTANA, when after Ali Pasha was killed, the battle was decided in favour of the Holy League. The Turkish fleet was almost entirely crushed, only about 30 ships were saved.

Set of drawings
The set contains a complete set of drawings with the construction procedure, the parts are carefully marked on the drawing and there is also a list of the individual parts of the model.

Building difficulty 3
Advanced model ship layouts require previous experience with model building and mastery of the techniques of the individual technological steps, like bonding, bending, staining, sewing sails, etc. It is necessary to be familiar with the drawing documentation, to plan the individual steps and the whole procedure. Any details need to be studied and it should be taken into account that the construction requires a certain degree of creativity and independence, as the instructions may not deal with the production of every detail. The models are extensive and detailed, take a long time to complete and require a lot of finishing work on the parts.

Czech company Dusek Ship Kits
Czech company Dusek Ship Kits is a traditional manufacturer of non-floating models of historic ships. The range of products is very wide, with boats from BC to sailing ships from the last century. However, the domain is historic wooden boats of the golden age of sailing ships, as a business, wartime or royal English, Spanish galleries, schooners, ships of famous explorers or Viking and, for us, exotic East Asian ships.

The road to a self-built boat
Anyone who desires a self-made boat must prepare to be busy in the evenings for many weeks or months. It means having a certain skill and knowledge of working with different materials, adhesives, paints and varnishes. The kit contains mainly basic building materials, building bases and many small or miniature parts and decorations. However, this work will give you an insight into the ins and outs of ship construction, the history of real ships and can often lead you to a community of people who share your passion for ship modelling.
Recommended equipment for building the model
To simplify the construction and get a perfect result, it is advisable to buy a set of ready-made pre-sewn sails for this model. It is recommended to buy tools, glue and paint for the construction. We recommend the Modelcraft Ship Modeler Tool Set (12 piece set) or the Modelcraft Modeler Tool Set (18 piece set). It is also recommended to purchase nylon clamps and indispensable modeling pins. For finishing, precision cutting, gluing of parts and also as a protection of the table it is recommended to use a modelling mat. For bonding, universal dispersion adhesive and Robitronic medium instant adhesive (20 ml) are recommended. For painting acrylic enamel paints. The paints are applied with quality brushes - flat brushes for larger areas and round brushes for details.
