The kit is a scale 1:72 model of the ship Pinta from 1492 from the fleet of Christopher Columbus. Length of the model ship is 385 mm, built mostly from wood with small accessories, includes building plan and instructions with many detailed pictures. The Pinta was one of the ships in Christopher Columbus' fleet, with which he made the westward voyage to India, when he accidentally discovered America. In August 1492, Columbus sailed on three ships: Santa Maria, Nina and Pinta from the port of Palos de la Frontera, located on the southwest coast of Spain. After two months, on the night of October 12, 1492, the sailors finally sighted the land Columbus assumed was India. The exact shape and dimensions of the ship are unknown, but according to surviving records the Pinta had a displacement of about 100 tons.
