History of the sling

Slingshot has a long history with extensive uses dating back to prehistoric times. It has always been a very cheap and effective weapon, which can be created by one's own efforts. The sling works on the principle of centrifugal force generated by the flexible part. Slings from ancient times were rather ropes that had a pocket in the middle. The slingshots assembled in this way had a range of up to 300 metres with a speed of up to 200km/hour for experienced shooters. From the Middle Ages onwards, crossbows and bows began to supplant slingshots, which excelled in range, accuracy and effect.
