The brisk card-based Saboteur (redesign 2025) is based on the principle of hidden identities. Some players, representing the dwarves, try to use the tunnel cards to dig their way to the golden mound, while others - the saboteurs - try to thwart them. The catch is that whether a player is a dwarf or a saboteur remains hidden from the other players. Because the dwarves have to help each other and try to restrain the saboteurs from harassing them, the atmosphere at the table is always tense. The 2025 version of Saboteur differs from the older version only in its graphics. The content and rules of the game remain the same.
