The principle of the game Didactic Toys Tender Leaf
Children operate the various mechanical elements of the panel and record the current or observed weather. Rotate the wheel to set one of the eight phases of the month, including its name, and use the sliding bar to watch the temperature rise or fall. By lifting the little boy's hat they indicate the strength of the wind and by moving the lever by the bucket they show the yield of precipitation. Nine magnetic weather symbols are then used to complete a simple forecast for yesterday, today and tomorrow, encouraging comparison and perception of changes over time.
Understanding weather and climate
A panel with four seasons helps children from different parts of the world understand that the weather has typical patterns in each season. Exploring the phases of the moon in relation to changes in temperature, wind and precipitation develops a broader understanding of natural processes. At a time of growing interest in the climate, this toy is a modern and meaningful educational tool that promotes an appreciation of the connections between nature and everyday life.
