Vectavir tinted cream for cold sores is intended for the treatment of cold sores. Cold sores are caused by a viral infection. The virus may remain inactive for a long time, but if it becomes active, it will multiply and develop a herpes zoster. This can occur, for example, if you are exhausted, have the flu or a cold, or if you have been exposed to excessive sunlight. The virus causes painful blisters on the lips. The product can be used by adults and adolescents from 12 years of age. Vectavir tinted cream for cold sores contains the medicinal substance penciclovir and belongs to the group of antiviral drugs that stop the virus from multiplying. The product reduces the pain of cold sores, speeds up healing and shortens the time for which the cold sore is contagious. However, the use of Vectavir Tinted Cold Sore Cream will not prevent the spread of cold sores to others. The package contains 2 g.
Dosage and method of use
Adults, including those over 60, and adolescents over 12:
Treatment should be started as soon as possible, before the herpes appears, i.e. when you feel burning or itching. However, the cream is effective even if you start using it after the cold sore has appeared. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the cream. Squeeze a small amount of cream onto your finger and apply to the affected area. Optionally, if you wish, for packages that come with clean disposable applicators, you can use them instead of your fingers. During the day, apply the cream to the affected area every 2 hours (approximately 8 times a day) for 4 days. Do not wipe the cream. Use the cream for a full 4 days. If your symptoms persist or worsen, or if there is no improvement after 4 days of treatment, see a doctor.
Contraindications
The use of Vectavir Tinted Cold Sore Cream is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Vectavir Tinted Cold Sore Cream should only be used on cold sores on the lips and around the mouth. It is not recommended for use on mucous membranes (e.g. in the mouth or nose, or on the mucous membranes of the genital organs). Avoid use in or near the eyes.

Storage
Store Vectavir Tinted Cold Sore Cream at temperatures up to 25 °C. Protect from frost. Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use Vectavir Tinted Cold Sore Cream after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
