Cross-system compatibility
The manufacturer pre-formats the drive to the HFS+ file system, so it works immediately after connecting to devices running macOS 11 and later. For users of Windows 10 and later, a downloadable driver for the HFS+ file system is available. This driver makes the drive's content accessible on the Windows platform without needing to format it and lose your stored data.
Data security
A combination of a password and hardware encryption protects your stored data. After setting a password in the included software, you activate the built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption, which runs continuously in the background. This technology encrypts all data directly at the drive's hardware level, so it doesn't strain your computer's performance. Without the correct password, the drive's content remains completely unreadable and protected from unauthorised access.
Backup software and ransomware protection
The product includes Acronis True Image for Western Digital software for managing backups. You can use it to set up automatic backups of files, applications, or your entire system. The software also includes active protection against ransomware attacks, which monitors the system and blocks malicious processes. The slim metallic case enhances durability when carrying the drive.
