Hakan Nesser je učitel a přední švédský spisovatel, autor úspěšné severské prózy s kriminální tématikou. Za své knihy třikrát obdržel významné Ocenění za nejlepší švédskou detektivku a v roce 2000 získal prestižní cenu Glass Key Award. Jeho knihy byly přeloženy do více než 25 jazyků.
Populární detektivní romány spojují postavy vyšetřovatelů Van Veeterena a inspektora Barbarottiho, kteří vyšetřují záhadné a nemilosrdné vraždy v realisticky zachyceném prostředí, inspirovaném švédskými, nizozemskými, německými a polskými reáliemi.
