The SwitchBot Lock Ultra Black is a well-made, quiet and technically advanced smart lock that installs without replacing the cylinder or handle. It operates both the shot (crank) and the bolt, However, it is necessary to set the record straight about a few misleading details: ❌ The lock itself does NOT have a fingerprint reader. The fingerprint is only available via a separate accessory (Keypad Touch), not in the lock body as Alza states. ❌ Without the hub, it only works locally via Bluetooth. Remote control, voice assistants and integrations require SwitchBot Hub. ❌ Compatibility is not 100% universal. It depends on the mechanical resistance of the lock and the correct calibration. After proper installation and tuning, the lock works reliably and quietly. The product is very good, but the description on Alza creates unrealistic expectations. Summary: Great hardware, weak and sometimes deceptive product presentation. Recommended for more technically savvy users who know what they are buying.
