Video formats mark a file format of a recorded video. The format helps you find out whether the video can be played on your TV. There are a number of both free and paid programs which convert video files to supported formats. Sometimes, such software is included in the package with a purchased camera. Video container formats such as AVI, MP4 and MKV may contain different compression formats, which means that for smooth playback, both the container format and the compression format of a video must be supported, e.g. H.264 in the MP4 container format.
