What is corten?
Corten is a unique and durable material with excellent weather resistance. The protective rust layer not only prevents further corrosion, but also gives the grill a unique and attractive appearance that changes and becomes more distinctive with time. The production of corten steel involves the careful selection of raw materials, a specific melting and alloying process, casting, rolling, heat treatment and the formation of a final protective layer. This develops into a fully protective patina through carefully monitored weathering and prevents rusting.
Grill with square plancha
The Corten Montana grill is designed to make grilling as efficient as possible. In the lower part of the grill there is a covered space for storing wooden logs and the upper part of the grill is a firebox with a pull-out ashtray. The dominant feature of the grill is a huge grill surface - a 1 cm thick plancha with a slight tilt towards the centre. This ensures even heat distribution and retention, efficient drainage of excess liquids and fats, and easy maintenance and cleaning. These features improve the overall functionality of the grill, increase the quality of cooking and improve safety and hygiene during use.
Multiple heat zones and raised grill
The grill is equipped with two carbon steel grill grates. You can put one directly into the plancha and grill in the middle of the grill in the highest heat over the firebox. If you want to grill in milder heat, instead of the basic grill, use a raised grill with a cooking surface 15 cm above the firebox. To avoid the risk of burns when handling hot grates, grill lifters are also included. The Plancha allows you to further divide the heat zones, so you can prepare dishes that need different temperatures and grill vegetables, steaks, fish and cheese at the same time. All dishes will be extra delicious, juicy, with a wonderfully crispy outer layer and full of rich flavour.

Barbecue tips
For grilling on a corten grill, use well-dried wooden logs, ideally beech or ash, with a maximum moisture content of 20%. Align them in the firebox so that the bark faces outwards and the smoke can leave easily. The grill also has minimal maintenance requirements. The entire controlled process of corten production gives the grill excellent weather resistance, so if you're not grilling, just cover the grill with a wrap and you can keep it outdoors all year round. A thick layer of corten will protect it from rusting through. After each grilling, just dispose of the ash from the ash tray, clean the plancha of any deposits and rub it from time to time with olive or other vegetable oil.
