Kenya Kericho Heritage Opa

The altitude of cultivation ranges between 1800 and 2500 metres above sea level, which gives the tea its characteristic freshness and complexity. The high-altitude conditions cause the tea trees to grow more slowly, resulting in a more intense concentration of flavours and aromas. As a typical black tea, it undergoes a full oxidation process that gives it a rich colour and texture. Grade OPA (Orange Pekoe A) refers to large, full-bodied leaves that are ideal for long-lasting infusion and full flavor development.

Flavour profile

It offers medium sweetness with notes of honey and sugar cane. Light umami adds depth and fullness, while light to medium bitterness provides balance. Light acidity with a hint of citrus adds a refreshing element that makes the tea ideal for daytime drinking. The Medium astringency brings a slightly dry mouthfeel, which is typical of quality black teas and promotes a long-lasting aftertaste. Among the subtle nuances you will discover light traces of jasmine, rose, cinnamon, cashew nut and smokiness that add an exotic and sophisticated dimension. In addition, medium strong traces of caramel can also be found. This tea is ideal for lovers of complex flavours who are looking for something more than just plain black tea.
