Gunpowder Special tea, known for its small balls, is one of the important green teas. The wrapping protects the tea from weathering and ensures a long shelf life. Older leaves are used, which add smoky notes and a grassy quality to the flavour. The tea has a penetrating aroma and a slightly sweet smell. In Arab countries it is often served with mint and sugar.
Gunpowder Special Green Tea is easy to prepare. Pour 10 g of tea into a 500 ml teapot and cover with water at 80 °C. Leave to infuse for 2 minutes. The second infusion is made by pouring water at 90 °C and infusing for 2 to 3 minutes.
