What are lutein and zeaxanthin?
Lutein and zeaxanthin are natural yellow dyes from the carotenoid group, which are found in high concentrations in the retina and especially in the macula (yellow spot) of the eye. They form the main components of macular pigment and play an important role in protecting the eyes. Both carotenoids act as powerful antioxidants. They also have the ability to filter out harmful blue light, thereby protecting sensitive retinal cells from damage. The macula, where they are concentrated, is responsible for sharp central vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin cannot be produced by the human body itself and are therefore dependent on dietary intake. They occur naturally, especially in green leafy vegetables, corn, egg yolks and some other foods.

Recommended dosage
