The ASUS ThunderboltEX 5 expansion card adds full Thunderbolt 5 connectivity to compatible ASUS motherboards. It installs into a spare PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and requires a motherboard with an internal Thunderbolt header for connection. The card integrates two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 5 support. The Bandwidth Boost feature dynamically optimises transfer capacity based on the current load. For demanding video outputs, it allocates up to 120Gbps, while for simultaneous data transfer, it uses bi-directional speeds of 80Gbps. Each port also supports daisy-chaining, which is used to connect up to five compatible Thunderbolt devices in sequence.

Three Mini DisplayPort inputs are available to connect your graphics card and receive a signal from your GPU. The controller then supports the DisplayPort 2.1 standard and transmits the video signal to connected monitors or docking stations. Using Display Stream Compression, it can power up to three 8K monitors at a 60Hz refresh rate.
Power and Thunderbolt Share
The card provides a total power output of 130W for connected devices, with a single port delivering up to 96W. Flexible FastCharge technology adjusts the power according to the connected accessory. The Thunderbolt Share feature directly connects two computers via their Thunderbolt ports, making it easy to share peripherals and transfer files between them.
