Match & Coarse Rods

The float fishing method uses a float to indicate whether the fish are biting or not. The line is fixed, so the float rods aren’t equipped with a reel. This type is ideal for catching small and medium-sized fish. Some models are adapted for use in fishing competitions (these are called match rods.

What to focus on when choosing a float rod

Number of pieces

Generally speaking, a rod consisting of fewer pieces has better properties than an equally long rod with a higher number of pieces. Rods with fewer pieces let you cast farther and more accurately. They are also more responsive.

Length

Longer rods let you cast your bait further.

Rod strength and cast weight

The ideal cast weight indicates the lure weight that lets you cast your bait the farthest. The lure weight should not exceed the listed maximum weight.
