Choosing a basic fishing rod is not difficult. You only need to know what kind of fish you catch the most, what method you use, and whether you would like a multi-piece or telescopic rod. What fishing method do you use?

Float fishing - the float on the line mimics the motions of a fish. Can catch virtually all species. The most suitable rod for carps.
Ledger fishing - the bait is located on the bottom of the lake and the lead is not the float, but the indicator suspended on a taut line.
Lure fishing - casting artificial lures and reeling them back. You need a shorter rod with a reel and a number of lures.

Telescopic or multi-piece?

Telescopic - usually made of fiberglass or composite. Suitable for beginners. A bit on the thicker side.
Multi-piece - belongs to the more advanced category. Made of braided carbon kevlar. Can be split into two or three parts, making it easier to transport.

Recommended casting lure weight

Lure weight is the weight that under ideal conditions can be cast the furthest (listed in grams).
Some manufacturers use pounds, but that indicates the rod's power value.
From it we can roughly derive the lure weight in grams. ((x lbs/16) * 450) = max. lure weight in grams.
